District courts website frozen in time
Chandigarh, December 13 This, in spite of the current incumbent, Justice Tirath Singh Thakur, having visited the district courts complex in Sector 17 as part of pre-mega lok adalat today. The lok adalats are being organised to ensure speedy disposal of cases and keep a tab on pendency. Though five months have elapsed since the retirement of former chief justice Vijender Jain, the district courts website still has his name as chief justice of the High Court. High pendency and work burden seem to have taken a toll on the courts so much so that they have forgotten to get their facts right. The former chief justice served from November 28, 2006 to August 1, 2008 but this fact has apparently slipped out of the mind of the person in-charge of maintaining the court website. While the district court website - <http://chddistrictcourts.gov.in/> - has been proudly flaunting the name of Justice Vijender Jain, contrary to the High Court website, which has been updated. On the website of Punjab and Haryana High Court - http://highcourtchd.gov.in/ - the list and photographs of sitting judges and the name and picture of the presiding chief justice have been updated. A district courts employee said: “It seems to have been ignored by the person in charge of maintaining the website.” |
