Badal opens bridge over Dugri
* Rs 50,000 cr to be spent on power projects

Ludhiana, November 9
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today laid the foundation stone of a bridge at Sidhwan canal near Dugri here.
The bridge to be constructed at the cost of Rs 1.50 crore was a long pending demand of area residents, who were complaining of heavy traffic due to the
narrow existing bridge.

Youth booked for assault on granny

The local police has booked a youth of Jalwana village under Sections 452, 323, 506, 509 and 427 of the IPC for allegedly assaulting his grandmother and two nieces after entering their house forcibly two days back.
Woman succumbs to burns
Ludhiana, November 9
A woman who was allegedly set afire by her husband succumbed to her burn injuries at the local civil hospital yesterday.
Jyoti, the victim, was set afire by her husband, Pawan Kumar, for bringing insufficient dowry, on November 4. She was admitted to the hospital five days ago.
Teenaged girl murdered
Ludhiana, November 9
A 13-year-old girl was found murdered in mysterious circumstances at her residence in Postal Colony near Tagore Nagar here this evening.
According to the police, Sneh Lata's neck was slit and the body was found lying in a pool of blood.
Machines worth lakhs lying idle in vet varsity
Ludhiana, November 9
Two machines worth several lakhs of rupees are lying non-operational at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.
According to sources, these two machines were purchased about two years back but the authorities has failed to get them installed till date.
