Deepkamal Kaur Tribune News Service
Jalandhar, October 16 The authorities of the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences have now asked them to again take admission to the first year in an affiliated college and appear in the examination next year, thereby directly implying a loss of one academic year besides financial loss of fee and funds of more than Rs 55,000 already deposited in the previous college. The admissions have just been conducted in the colleges and there are some vacant seats remaining. The five nursing colleges include two each of Mohali and Ludhiana and one at Tarn Taran. As per the stipulated rules, the colleges should have got recognition from the Indian Council of Nursing, affiliation from Baba Farid university and an NOC from the state government before conducting admission. The colleges, however, reportedly managed to get conditional admissions at that time in the university counselling with the state government’s nod. Through the academic session 2007-08, the five colleges were unable to get the recognition and affiliation from the bodies concerned, failing which the university has now barred them from appearing in the examination. Registrar of the university S.S. Walia said 79 students were given admission through counselling and the rest came directly through respective colleges. He said the students were aware of the conditions laid down for admission as a notice in this regard was displayed at the counselling venue. The students had been given an undertaking for the same. Many students had also left in between having got an inkling of the trouble ahead. He said one or two colleges have even started refunding money to the students. |
