A long wait ended this morning when Abhinav Bindra returned home with the first-ever individual Olympic gold medal for the country adorned around his neck at his palatial mansion at Kishanpura village here today.

Non-compliant contractors to face action

The Chandigarh municipal corporation will issue notices to parking contractors of Sectors 17, 35-C, 9 and Sukhna Lake for not complying with the orders of installing CCTV cameras in their respective parking lots by August 16, 2008. These cameras will help in identifying the defaulters and car thieves in the parking areas.

AYUSH cancels affiliation of ayurvedic college

Students of Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College, Sector 46, have nowhere to go after the government body AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Sidha and Homeopathy), on recommendations of Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), has finally cancelled affiliation of the college. After the decision was conveyed to the college through the council officially, the college put up notices and the authorities called up the students to tell them to take full refund of the fees.

Power failure irks Kalka residents

The residents of Kalka were deprived of electricity for more than eight hours today. They had to remain without electricity from 5.30 am to 1.30 pm. Woman duped of Rs 62,500

City resident Rupinder Pal Kaur was duped of Rs 62,500 on the pretext that she had won a lottery of 1,25,000 pounds. The police has arrested the conman. The victim, in a written complaint to the police, said she had received an e-mail which informed her of having won 1,25,000 pounds in a lottery.

2 youths hurt in brawl
