Land compensation to be based on location: Sukhbir
Mohali, March 28
Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has said compensation for land acquired by the Punjab government will be in accordance with the location and worth of the land being acquired. Talking to mediapersons following his appearance in a court yesterday, Sukhbir said the announcement of compensation of Rs 1.5 crore per acre for the land being acquired by the government for the Mohali International Airport has set a new standard in the state.

No ownership, still ZP allows felling of trees

The Ropar Zila Parishad has got felled 100 trees illegally from the Ropar-Nurpurbedi road. When this correspondent visited the area the labourers were still felling green ‘tahli’ and mango trees along the road side.

The PRTC plies buses on 552 routes in Punjab and neighbouring states, but it suffers a loss on 469 routes. That means its operational cost on 469 routes is more than its earning on these routes. It earns profit only on 83 routes.
