A surprise visit to the Ferozepore Central Jail by Punjab Sate Human Rights Commission member Justice R.L. Anand has revealed that medical facilities in the prison require urgent attention. Not only are the posts of doctors lying vacant for over two years, but also the process of medicine distribution is a “hoax” as same medicine is prescribed to all the patients.

CPI asks CM to lead all-party deputation

The Communist Party of India (CPI) today asked Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to lead an all-party deputation to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for seeking a special package from the Central government for Punjab farmers on the pattern of Andhra Pradesh and Vidharbha in Maharashtra, vide which the Centre had waived the loans outstanding towards farmers.
