Liquor vend every half km
While the government is spending lakhs of rupees on controlling alcohol and drug abuse, it has relaxed all norms to facilitate consumption of liquor.

Chandigarh, a city of 144 sq km area has 192 liquor vends, approximately 100 ahatas, at least 90 bars besides the drinking facilities at five clubs.

Even though the senior police officers of the Chandigarh fight shy of admitting that the rise in the number of liquor vends in the city has a direct bearing on the crime graph, the reality seems to be otherwise.

Experts dwell on risks in pregnancy
Chandigarh, April 8
“There was no clinical test to predict the occurrence of pre-eclampsia. However, a combination of maternal high-risk factors with uterine artery doppler can prove useful. Also, calcium intake can prevent pre-eclampsia in high-risk women with low dietary intake,” said Dr P.K. Saha at a CME and annual meeting of the Obstetric and Gynaecological Society of Northern India at the PGIMER today.
