Sec 17 SCO owners told to pay Rs 1 cr for additional floor
Chandigarh, September 23
In a move to mop up its revenue, the Estate Office has shot off notices to owners of shop-cum-offices (SCOs) in Sector 17, directing each of them to pay around Rs 1 crore as the compounding fee for an extra floor — which has been added in addition to the permitted four floors.

4 PG students attacked in Dera Bassi
Dera Bassi, September 23
Several youths last night attacked a paying guest house in the Saraswati Vihar here, injuring four students seriously. Sources said the incident occurred when at least 15 youths, allegedly led by Gaurav Sularia, a student of the Sri Sukhmani Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Talks on improving conditions in prisons

Motorised rehris: panel for raising age for licence

The five-member committee, constituted for finalising the terms and conditions for the grant of licence of motorised three-wheeler rehris, has decided to propose increase in the age for granting licence for the rehris up to the age of 60 in place of the age limit of 22-35.
