Vets achieve breakthrough in hip stabilisation
Ludhiana, August 30 The team of veterinary surgeons, comprising Dr M. Raghunath, Dr J. Mohindroo, Dr M. Choudhry and Dr V. Sangwan carried out the surgical correction called ‘synthetic capsular suturing’ by open reduction and stabilisation of coxo-femoral joint. According to a press release issued by the university here today, a non-absorbable suture material in ‘eight fashion figure’ with three screw fixation was used in this technique. The surgical procedure provided good stability of coxo-femoral joint and prevented relaxation. The results led to saving of the femoral head as also provided normal limb movement. Earlier, in such cases, femoral head excision was performed which resulted in limited hind limb movement. |
