PAU union to gherao Audit Officer today

The Punjab Agricultural University Employees Union will gherao the local Audit Officer tomorrow in protest against the objections raised by the Audit Department with regard to admitting decisions of the Board of Management and other competent authorities of the PAU here.

Three booked for attack on two villagers

The local police has registered a case under Sections 452, 324, 506 and 34 of the IPC against three persons for allegedly attacking two persons after forcibly entering the house of the victim at Jandali village near here yesterday.

Along with paramour, wife kills husband

Mandeep Singh, 25, an employee with the ITI at Manuke, has allegedly been murdered by his wife and her paramour last night at their residence.

Dowry case: mother-in-law still at large
Renu SoodLudhiana, August 30
The police is yet to arrest a woman of Atam Nagar who is an accused in a dowry case registered under Sections 406, 498-A of the IPC.  The complainant, Sonia, a resident of College Road, said although her husband Pankaj, her father -in -law Satish Sood and brother-in-law Kunal have been arrested, the police was dragging its feet on arresting her mother-in-law, Raksha alias Renu Sood, who has been missing since August 27 with her jewellery and other valuables.

Three held on fraud charges

The Dakha police has arrested Tarsem Lal, Ram Lal and Raj Kumar of Mullanpur on the charges of making false document and defrauding Sohan Lal of Ravidass Nagar, Dakha, of Rs 20,000. The police has registered a case under Sections 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B, IPC.

Vets achieve breakthrough in hip stabilisation

In an innovative surgical technique, claimed to have been performed for the first time in the country, a team of veterinary surgeons at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, here, has successfully treated two cases of traumatic cranial coxo-femoral dislocation in dogs.
