3,132 riot
victims to get compensation from today

The district administration has informed that the process of
disbursement of compensation among the 1984 riot victims settled in
Ludhiana (East) and Ludhiana (West) subdivisions would begin from April
13 from 12 noon onwards at 10 counters set up at different places in the
city.

against opening of liquor vend

Residents of Mohalla Parkash Puri, near the Dhuri line, staged a protest
and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner today. They were
protesting against the opening of a liquor shop in their area. They said
the shop was just 30 metres from a temple.
