Departure: They were appreciably above normal in Haryana, Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, above normal in Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh, appreciably below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and below normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 42.9C recorded at Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh).
