Over 300 patients examined Ludhiana, February 5 A team of eye surgeons, dental surgeons gynecologists and those from radiology and medicine conducted medical check up of patients and rendered follow up advice. Facility of diagnostic tests like X-ray and ultrasound scan were also provided to the patients. Meanwhile, Dr D.N. Kotnis Health and Education Centre will organise a free medical check up camp at Dr D.N. Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital here on February 8. According to Dr Inderjit Singh, medical superintendent of the institution, the camp would specially focus on the patients suffering from back pain, disc problem, spinal injury, traumatic paraplegia, cervical and lumbar spondilitis and sciatica. Dr T. Kalra, a noted acupuncturist, will be available for consultation and treatment at the camp. |
Sports meet of AS College ends Khanna, February 5 Speaking on the occasion, Ms Dullo said the students should actively take part in sports activities. She also announced a grant of Rs 1 lakh from his discretionary fund. The results are: Talwinder Singh of BA III and Simi Batta of PGDCA were declared the best athletes. In 100 m race, Amandeep Singh of BA II got the first position, Jasbir Singh BA I second and Amarinder Singh of BA I secured the third position. Hammer throw: Jarnail Singh BA III bagged the first position, Karun Sharma BA III second and Gurpreet Singh BA II bagged the third position; 3000 m race: Talwinder Singh 1, Avtar Singh 2, Parlad Singh 3; Short put (girls): Simmi 1, Gurvir Kaur 2 and Simran 3; Back race: Lakhvir Singh 1, Yuvraj Singh 2, and Varinder Singh 3; 3000 m walk: Talwinder Singh 1, Tarnvir Singh 2, Teetu 3; Obstacle race: Nidhi 1, Simran 2, Neetika 3. The tug war competition was won by BA III team defeating the team of BA II. The college students also organised a cultural programme. LIC athletics meet on Feb 10, 11 Ludhiana, February 5 According to Mr D R Bhagat, Senior Divisional Manager, LIC, Ludhiana, during this two-day meet, competition in 32 events, including shot put, high jump, long jump, javeling throw, triple jump, discus throw, hammer throw and track races, will be held. Gurmeet Kaur,a national record holder in javelin throw, Arjuna awardee and international Sunil Goswami and shot putter of international repute Amul Tyagi will be among the participants who will vie for top honours. Mr D K Malhotra, Managing Director, LIC of India will inaugurate the meet on Friday at 10 am while Mr A K Shukla, Chairman, LIC of India, will be the chief guest on the concluding day. Meanwhile, the 77th annual meeting of the Sports Promotion Board of the LIC of India will be conduted here on
February 12 during which the calendar for the ensuing season apart from other important issues would be discussed and finalised, Mr Bhagat said. |
