Eve-teasers murder girl’s brother

Jammu, January 19
A boy was murdered in cold blood by three teenagers, who lived in his neighbourhood in the Trikuta Nagar locality, after he asked them to desist from teasing his sister.

The victim was identified as Brijesh (10) and the accused as Bijju Goswami (17), Mukesh (18) and Hari Ram (19).

While Brijesh hailed from Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh, Bijju and Mukesh are residents of Jhansi. Hari Ram, a resident of Patna, was a servant in the house of Ganju at Shankar Vihar in Sector 1 of Trikuta Nagar.

Sources said the accused were teasing Brijesh’s sister near their rented house at Shankar Vihar on January 16 when the latter objected to it and asked them not to do so in future.

When he brought the matter to the notice of his father, the latter reprimanded the accused and threatened them with dire consequences if they dared to tease his daughter again, the sources added.

Though the accused fled soon thereafter, they abducted Brijesh the same day and took him to the house of Ganju, who was out with his family in connection with some work.

They tied his legs and hands together and then slit his throat with a knife, resulting in his instant death, the sources said, adding they later threw his body into a gutter.

When Brijesh did not return home, his father lodged a report with Trikuta Nagar police station. When cops picked up Bijju, Mukesh and Hari and put them to sustained interrogation, they confessed to having murdered Brijesh.

Brijesh’s body was taken out from the gutter last evening and shifted to the GMC hospital mortuary. — UNI
