Giving details of her research paper, Dr Sandhu says fibrous foods like whole grains, whole cereals, oats, fruits and salad are very useful for diabetic patients. The processed foods like pizza, burger, noodles, etc, are not only low in fibre and chromium content but also facilitate chromium losses from the body. By increasing the consumption of chromium rich foods like apple, mushroom, bean, lentil, whole cereals, raw onion, spanich, etc, it was found that in just three months the blood glucose and cholesterol level in diabetic patients improved significantly.
