A man in his mid-seventies succumbed to injuries at the PGI this evening after being hit by a motor cycle near the Sector 39 petrol station later in the day. The police said the motorcyclist also suffered injuries in the accident.

Rare coin found
Mohali, November 15
In what is being considered a “rare find”, a Mohali resident today came up with a coin similar to the one discovered in Manali recently. The coin, according to the Manali claimant, dates back to 517BC but according to Gurpreet Sandhu, the Mohali owner of the coin, it is not older than the 17th century.

3 booked for land fraud

The police has booked Jatinder Kumar, Swaran Singh and Raj Kumar on charges of trying to sell 30 acres that belonged to the wife of a former police officer of the Punjab Police, sources said. Jatinder Kumar and Swaran Singh have been arrested.

19.93 pc rise in UT’s revenue collection

The Excise and Taxation Department of Chandigarh Administration has made an overall revenue collection of Rs 375.58 crore from April 1, 2005 to October 31, 2005, which is 19.93 per cent more than the collection of Rs 313.49 crore for the corresponding period of 2004.

Flat track to be operational soon

Good news for the skating fraternity is in the offeing as the dream project of the Principal, KB DAV Centenary School, Sector 7, Ms Madhu Bahl, regarding a flat track for speed skaters will be realised soon. The first of its kind track in the region will a surface of polyurethane and size 100 metres is likley to cost around Rs 25 lakh.
