De-addiction camp
: A drug de-addiction camp was organised at the Civil Hospital by the Sarojani Naidu Health and Welfare Society here on Monday. As many as 30 persons were admitted. Dr Ramesh Arora and Dr Rajesh Midha, psychiatrists, examined about 100 persons during the week-long camp. Dr Sarwan Kumar Juneja, SMO, and Mr Sohan Lal Jhamb, president of the society, said medicine would be given free of cost to patients.

Youth festival: Mr Sajjan Kumar Jakhar, former Minister of Irrigation and Cooperation, inaugurated Zonal Youth Festival of Muktsar zone colleges affiliated with Panjab University here on Monday. Mr Parkash Singh Bhatti, MLA, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Seminar
: Dr A.R. Kidwai, Governor of Haryana, will inaugurate a three-day seminar on “Guru granth sahib: different aspects” at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) here on Wednesday. Dr S.P. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU will preside over the seminar.

Bonus: The SGPC will give one extra DA instalment as bonus to all its employees to mark the ‘bandi chor’ on Diwali, according to a press released here on Monday.

Cancer camp: The 15 Panther Division of the Army organised a free cancer detection camp to mark cancer week, at its cantonment-based hospital here on Monday. Ms Meena Sharma, president, Army Wives Welfare Association, (AWWA) inaugurated the camp. Besides, an awareness campaign on cancer, preventions and cures will also be held.

Elected: Mr Raj Singh of Congress was elected president of Khemkaran Municipal Committee here on Monday. The election was conducted under the supervision of Mr Gurwaryam Singh, SDM.

Soldier cremated
: Mr Ranjit Singh, an Army soldier, hailing from Pakho Kalan village had laid down his life while fighting militants in Jammu & Kashmir on Friday. He was cremated at his native village with full military honours on Monday.

Video CD released: A video compact disc (CD) on drugs, “Zindgi di Talaash — Ek Umeed” was released by Mr S.S. Virk, Director-General of Police, Punjab, on Monday on the PAP campus, Jalandhar. The CD prepared by Dr Jitendra Jian, Senior Superintendent of Police, Batala, touches all aspects of drugs like its ill-effects, symptoms, types, de-addiction, role of enforcement agencies and responsibilities of teachers and parents.

Awareness campaign
: About 50 activists of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Krantikari Society led by Mr Varinder Singh Kahlon and Mr Onkar Singh Dhami started a ‘Chetna march’ from Bhunga to Wagha border here on Monday. The aim of the march is to motivate the youths for eradication of social evils and promote national integration and unity of the country.

Rs 5 cr sanctioned
: The Punjab Government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 5 crore for the development of Sujanpur. This was stated by Mr Naresh Puri, president of the Municipal Council, Sujanpur, on Monday. He said the amount had been sanctioned for the construction of a hospital, community hall and stadium and other development works. Construction.

Crops destroyed
: Paddy crops belonging to Sukhwinder Singh and Gurmeet Singh of Munshiwala village, have been destroyed in fire due to short-circuit. They have demanded compensation from Punjab Government.

SANGRUR
Dharna
: A large number of Patwaris and Kaunongos under the leadership of Mr Jugraj Singh Ratol, district president of the Revenue Patwari Union, staged a dharna against officials of the Vigilance Department in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner here on Monday. They were protesting against registration of a case against a Patwari and a Kanoongo of the Barnala area. They demanded cancellation of alleged “false” cases.

List displayed
: The Chairman of the Shaheed Udham Singh Trust, Mohali, Wg-Cdr Baldev Singh (retd), has said in a press note that the list of trustees and life members of the trust has been displayed at the office of the trust at plot No. 1-2, Institutional Area, Shaheed Udham Singh Marg, Phase 3-A, Mohali. Objections regarding the omission of names with documentary proof are invited to reach the trustee office in writing by November 10 this year, the press note adds.

REWARI
Donation
: The Rewari District Petroleum Dealers Association has donated a sum of Rs 31,000 for earthquake victims in Jammu and Kashmir. A demand draft of the amount was presented by office-bearers of the association to Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here on Sunday. 

Statue installed: A statue of Lal Lal Bahadur Shastri was unveiled by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here on Sunday in wake of ongoing birth centenary celebrations of Shastri. The statue has been installed at a crossing in Model Town colony. 

Electrocuted: Mr Ram Avtar Sharma (50), a lineman of Dharuhera subdivision of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), was electrocuted when he touched a high tension wire while working at a transformer at Bhatsana village, near Dharuhera, on Monday. 

SONEPAT
Three hurt
: Three persons, including a woman, were injured in a clash between two groups in Pachsheel Colony here on Tuesday. According a report, all the injured were hospitalised. No arrest has been made.

KULU
House gutted
: A two-storyed house was gutted at Shuru village near Manali on Monday. Three families were affected who were living in the house. Mr B.R. Chandel, Tehsildar, Manali, reached the spot and distributed Rs 6,000 each and 14 blankets among the affected families. No loss of life was reported. 

NURPUR
Electoral rolls
: New electoral rolls of Nurpur and Gagath Assembly constituencies have been prepared and are available for inspection with the designated officers at each polling station up to November 19. The objections, if any, may be entertained till November 19.
