  SC order will boost NRI investment in city

Tough going for motorists

Motorists on the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway faced a tough time today as the bridge on the Ghaggar near Bhankarpur was closed for traffic.

UGC NET camp at PU

More changes are expected in the syllabus and pattern of the UGC NET in the coming years. The intention of the UGC is clear regarding that because in December 2004 Paper-I syllabus was changed and for June 2005 Paper III pattern was changed. Again in June 2005 also Paper-I was also not as per expectations.

IAF may press heavy-lift copters to fly machinery

The IAF is planning to press the Mi-26 heavy-lift helicopter to airlift heavy machinery to remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, which were devastated by an earthquake a few days ago.

Man held for stealing mobile
Chandigarh, October 23
The local police has arrested a Sector 32 resident on the allegations of stealing a mobile phone. A woman was arrested with 2 gm of smack while in a separate incident a Sector 29, a resident was taken in custody on charges of selling liquor illegally.

UP resident held with ganja
Chandigarh, October 23
The local police today arrested an Uttar Pradesh resident for allegedly carrying 14 kg of ganja from Kajheri village. The estimated market value of the contraband is Rs 70, 000, said the police.

125 cases settled at Lok Adalat
Panchkula, October 23
As many as 125 cases were disposed off while a sum of Rs 14, 400 was awarded as compensation to litigants in various cases that came up in the Lok Adalat organised on the district court’s premises yesterday. As many as 313 cases were put up in this Lok Adalat.

Mishra Bandhu embellish sammelan finale
If the daughter disciple of legendary Pandit Kumar Gandharv gave a majestic start to the 28th Chandigarh Sangeet Sammelan, legends Pandit Rajan Mishra and Sajan Mishra provided the grand finale with their melodic spell of classical music on Sunday. The annual event organised by the Indian National Theatre in collaboration with the Chitkara foundation brought together the diverse gayaki styles of different gharanas during the three-day soul-enriching musical spectacle.
