Killing of 8-yr-old boy: parents, residents allege police inaction

Angry parents of the eight-year-old boy, whose body was found yesterday, accompanied by residents of Mundian Kalan today staged a massive demonstration at Jamalpur Chowk to protest against the alleged inaction of police, who had failed to registered a case of murder.

Music knows no language, proves Yesudas
Ludhianvis applaud his Malayalam songs too
Ludhiana, October 17
It was like the South meeting the North when noted singer Yesudas performed at a musical night organised by the Ayyapa Society of Ludhiana at Irwin Christian Senior Secondary School, here last night. Even when Yesudas presented most of the songs in Malayalam, the audience kept clapping and cheering all through his musical rendition.

Dullo seeks allotment of vacant land to poor
Ludhiana, October 17
The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President, Mr Shamsher Singh Dullo has suggested that all surplus government land in Punjab should be allotted to the poor at concessional and affordable rates. Mr Dullo, in a letter to the Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, has said the l and could be utilised for better purposes instead of letting it go waste.

Cops trained in handling mishap trauma 
Ludhiana, October 17
Keeping in view the high incidence of trauma cases on national highways and the role of police personnel in handling the cases, SPS Apollo Hospitals conducted a master training programme for the police department to coincide with 'World Trauma Day' here today. More than 25 police personnel attended the programme.

SSF alleges blasphemy by Hindi text book

The Sikh Students' Federation (SSF) has demanded strict action against the publishers of the Basha Manjri, a Hindi textbook carrying blasphemous remarks about Guru Gobind Singh.
