Heavy rain likely in HP, Punjab

Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan, at many places in West Rajasthan, at a few places in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and east Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm. are: Haryana: Kaithal 4, Panipat 3, Hisar 2 and Rania and Sirsa 1 each; Himachal Pradesh: Bangana 7, Berthin, Pandoh and Sujanpurtira 2 each and Bhuntar, Nadaun, Rampurbushahar, Sunibhaji, Surgani and Tissa 1 each; Jammu and Kashmir: Banihal and Bhaderwah 1 each; Punjab: Jalandhar 2; East Rajasthan: Binay 7, Nainwa and Sarwar 6 each, Nasirabad, Niwai, Sangod, Talera and Uniyara 5 each, Arai, Bayana, degod, Hindoli, Kapatan, Kotri, Ladpura, Malpura, Nagar, Nawan and Tonk 4 each, Alwar, Atru, Asind, Bundi, Devli, Jahazpur and Kota 3 each, Aligarh, Anta, Ajmer, Kekri, Makrana, Shahbad and Sawai Madhopur 2 each and Jhalawar, Pilani, Rawatbhata and Udaipur city 1 each; West Rajasthan: Sardarshahar 4, Bilara 3, Dungargarh, Jaitran and Raipur 2 each and Bikaner, Bhopalgarh, Pali and Rajgarh 1 each; East Uttar Pradesh: Lucknow and Mukhlishpur 3 each, Sultanpur 2 and Banda and Jaunpur 1 each; and Uttaranchal: Uttarkashi 3 and Joshimath 1.

Forecast valid until the morning of September 14: Rain/thundershowers will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, East Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and at a few places in the rest of the region.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain in likely in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, east Rajasthan and Uttaranchal during the next 48 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of September 14: Generally cloudy sky with rain/thundershowers in some areas.

Farmers weather bulletin for Delhi forecast valid until the morning of September 14: Light rain will occur at a few places.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.

Rain lashes North India

Chandigarh, September 12
Light to moderate rain lashed most places in the northern region today causing mercury to fall by a few degrees below the normal range at some places, the Meteorological Department said here.

After an overcast sky, the city received rain towards the evening and the maximum temperature recorded here was 32°C.

Ambala in Haryana was also lashed by rain at 4 mm. Karnal received 10 mm of rainfall.

Among other places in Haryana lashed by rain were Hisar (23.7 mm), Narnaul (2.2 mm), Rohtak (11 mm), Jagadhri (1.5 mm), Chhachrauli (15 mm), Bhiwani (30 mm), Loharu (10 mm), Tosham (6 mm), Hansi (4 mm), Adampur (5 mm), Narwana (4 mm), Safidon (6 mm), Panipat (12 mm), Thanesar (8 mm), Sonepat (2 mm) and Gohana (11 mm).

Delhi, Srinagar and Jammu also reported some light rain.

In Punjab, the maximum temperature at Ludhiana dropped by 80°C after being lashed by 23 mm of rainfall. Patiala received 9 mm of rain. Amritsar reported light rain.

In Himachal Pradesh, Shimla had a cold day recording a high of 20.2 °C. The town received 11 mm of rain. Among other places in the state to receive showers were Pandoh, Rampur, Sunni, Kasol, Kahu, Berthin, Sujanpur Tira, Nadaun, Guler and Nagrota Surian. — PTI
