Domestic servants confess to IRS officer’s murder
Gurgaon, August 10 According to district police chief Hanif Qureshi, the two domestic servants, who were nabbed in the wee hours today, have confessed to the crime. Biswas had hired a domestic servant, Biswajeet, from an agency, Amit Domestic, based at Chittaranjan Park in Delhi. He was to leave tomorrow for his native state, West Bengal. As he was leaving, the agency provided another domestic, Gautam, as a replacement. Gautam was sent to the residence of Biswas on August 2, a day before the fatal attack on Sharwani. According to the police, as per the confessions of the two Gautam had answered back to Alok Biswas and protested against taking care of the couple’s two pet dogs. Mr Biswas had allegedly abused him verbally. Gautam is reported to have told the police that since Mr Biswas behaved with him in an insulting way he conspired with Biswajeet to kill the couple to avenge himself. The couple continued with their routine on the fatal day. The two attacked them while they were asleep at about 2 am. They left Mr Biswas for dead. They later dragged the two of them in the bathroom and left them there. While the two used a statue to hit Sharwani on the head an iron rod was used on Mr
Biswas. The two had put the two pet dogs on tether in the compound outside. The statue and the iron rod stained with blood have been recovered from the house. They slept for three hours after the crime in the house to avoid suspicion. Also, they were sure they would not get a vehicle to leave the area at that hour. They left at 5 am and went to a residence at Chittaranjan Park, near the agency office. Gautam had allegedly being staying on rent there. They reported back to the owner of the agency, Mr Nitai Das, the same day to tell him that they had quit the job at Biswas’ place. The two had taken away Rs 2,000 from the house. Gautam had also planned to go to West Bengal along with Biswajeet, who was in any case scheduled to go. In a twist to the tale, a person posing as a fakir robbed the two of Rs 2,000 they had taken from Biswas residence while they were on way to Chittaranjan Park after committing the crime. Mr Biswas had revealed to the police yesterday that the details of his domestic servants were lying in a drawer. The police learned the address of the agency from the papers, leading to the exact identities of the two accused and their arrests. The DSP, Mr Kulwinder Singh, who has been heading the investigation, said Mr Biswas is not even aware that his wife has died. In fact, he cannot recall events prior to August
2. He told about the papers relating to his domestic servants only when the police continued mentioning about them to him yesterday. The reason for the amnesia is probably the impact of the attack on his head. When asked why Nitai Das did not react when news of the death was widely circulated the police said he was trying to get in touch with the couple on telephone at their residence. The agency wanted to know why the domestic servants had quit their job. But no one answered the telephone at the residence. |
Higher pay scale sought for senior secy teachers
Faridabad, August 10 There were several government secondary schools in the district and many of these had been facing shortage of teachers, especially the subject expert staff. This had a direct impact on the result of the matric and plus two results of various schools each year with the pass percentage being quite low in comparison to the schools affiliated to the CBSE or those run privately. According to reports, a large number of teachers of government schools in the district had moved their applications directly or indirectly for a transfer to a school or place of their choice. Though some of the cases may be genuine, it is learnt that several applications had been backed by political approach. Several schools had teachers for those subjects for which there was no student or the strength was very thin. At some schools, the non-specialists taught some of the subjects, leading to all kind of problems for the students as well as the staff. |

Plea to allow people to keep a cow each at home
New Delhi, August 10 This is for the citizens who are interested and have space enough for keeping a cow. People’s religious sentiments are attached with this animal as they worship cows. This direction has been given following a discussion in the Standing Committee where the members appealed that citizens of Delhi should be allowed to keep a cow in their residential premises if they wanted to. The members argued about the Supreme Court’s directive to remove the unauthorised dairies from the rural areas. A dairy is a commercial venture. Having one cow at home for personal purpose is not a commercial venture and it should be allowed. Explaining the court’s order, the Municipal Commissioner agreed to appeal before the apex court to allow the citizens of the Capital to have one cow at their homes. He said the veterinary department of the corporation had started removing the dairies following the court’s directive. “We are removing those dairies whose owners have not applied for a plot of dairy at Baprola near Najafgarh.” Baprola dairy form is also being developed after the court’s directive, the Municipal Commissioner said. |
