Govt promoting medical tourism
Ludhiana, July 30 Medical tourism has fast started picking up in India with a large numbers of NRIs making a beeline for hospitals here. For them a trip to India serves dual purpose — getting treatment for serious ailment at a cost which is roughly one-tenth of that in the West and as vacation time for rest and relaxation. This trend has become popular during the past two years. The reason behind that is not only the treatment cost is low as compared to other countries in the West but also because of the services provided. Today in India, medical industry has improved its services to attract NRIs for treatment. The Department of Tourism, Government of Punjab, has ambitious plans for the state. According to the Ministry of Tourism. “The idea is to make Punjab a top health tourism destination, not in India but internationally. We want to lure foreigners to Punjab to avail of our sophisticated facilities and, subsequently, induce them to enjoy our multiple tourism offerings”. |
