Mohali, July 25 He said the school planned to start a skating rink but had to delay the laying of the rink due to the monsoon. “We would try to complete the rink by the end of this year,” said Talwar while declaring that the sports facilities would be open on all evenings. Principal Jaya Bhardwaj said as soon as the school building gets completed more games would be introduced. Meanwhile, school coach Balwinder Singh said the trials for participation in the forthcoming tournaments in table soccer and table tennis would be conducted soon. |

Eviction notice to 166
residents
Panchkula, July 25 The residents had pleaded that they were staying in the village for the past two decades. They said they had been issued voter identity cards and ration cards but now HUDA proposed to evict them but had issued no notice. Officials in HUDA say that they have given three-day notice, in accordance with the directions of the court, and these house will be demolished after the end of the notice period. The HUDA has identified over 1,000 illegal structures on its land in Kharag Mangoli and Old Panchkula and proposes to raze these. A team of HUDA officials had conducted a survey of the area and found that other than 800 structures, including 20 shops, that had a stay on eviction, hundreds of tenements and commercial establishments had come up. |
PUDA gets tough, violators stand to
lose sites
Mohali, July 25 According to sources, the Additional Chief Administrator (policy), Ms Raji P. Srivastava, in a circular issued to PUDA Estate Officers, has asked them to identify all institutional properties allotted so far by PUDA, including allotments made by the Director Housing and Urban Estates and the Punjab Housing Development Board, and check whether the allottees have completed the construction of buildings, paid complete instalments and complied with other terms of allotment. In case of any violation, immediate action for the resumption of the site would be initiated. The order said the exercise should be completed by October 31and compliance reports should be sent. “The Estate Officer will be held personally responsible if he fails to proceed as per law against the defaulters and violators,” the order said. Sources said the circular was issued when it was noticed that in certain cases, allottees to whom institutional sites, including schools, nursing homes, hospitals, religious and professional colleges, technical training institutes and charitable trusts, were allotted in various urban estates of Punjab had put the sites on sale or entered into illegal transactions. |
