Man accused of rape acquitted
Ludhiana, May 26
The Additional Sessions Judge, Mr S. P. Bangarh has acquitted Shamsher Singh of Model Town, accused of kidnapping and raping a girl of Kakowal village, as the charges levelled against him could not be proved.

Three injured in group attack
Ludhiana, May 26
Tension gripped Shiv Puri colony last evening when a group of armed persons attacked some employees of the office and liquor kiosk of Mr Dimple Rana, president, District Youth Congress after some heated exchange with some unidentified persons who had consumed liquor in the ahata room of the kiosk. Tapeshwar Jha, Naresh Kumar, Angrej Singh, all workers with Mr Rana, were injured in the attack.
According to Mr Rana some persons were having liquor in the ahata and started quarreling with each other.

Man commits suicide
Jagraon May 26
A resident of Sidhwanbet villages, alleged to have committed suicide after being harassed by three persons. According to information, Kulwant Singh of Khanzarwal village, Harminder Singh of Ahmedgarh and Jaswinder Singh Kala of Abupura village harassed Mukhtiar Singh of Sidhwanbet for payment of bill against milk to the extent that Mukhtiar Singh committed suicide by consuming acid-mixed milk.

With summers at its peak, students of Green Grove Public School enjoyed swimming and pool party here yesterday. The Kindergarten kids had a time of their life inside the pool, screaming, jumping and splashing water.

Drive to remove encroachments
Ludhiana, May 26
Deputy Commissioner Anurag Verma has directed the officers of the PWD and Mandi Board to launch one month long drive to clear the encroachments made by the people along both sides of link roads in the district and to install the pillars indicating the actual width of the road.
