More than 900 posts of doctor are lying vacant in rural areas of Punjab for over six years, but nothing has been done to fill these posts even as nearly 2,000 doctors were either unemployed or under-employed in the state.

Judicial custody for accused in Rs 3 crore land scam

A local court today remanded the three accused in the Rs 3 crore Gurdaspur land acquisition case in judicial custody. The three — a panchayat secretary Manwinder Singh, a former village sarpanch Kuldip Raj and assistant revenue clerk Balbir Chand — were arrested by the Punjab vigilance bureau on May 17 and presented before the CJM’s court here on May 18.
