Sidhu’s anecdotes mesmerise audience
Ludhiana, May 20 Already famous for his one liners, Sidhu did not miss these at the night either. He remarked: “Remember the negatives are always developed in the dark rooms”, while trying to stress his point that negative thoughts only lead to darkness and desperation. He recalled his own experiences, the success and failures from which, he said, he learnt a lot. He asserted that one should have belief in himself and everybody should listen to his “inner voice”. He had a gibe at Congress President, Sonia Gandhi here. “Listen to your inner voice but not like Madam Sonia Gandhi”, he remarked with a sheepish smile while sending the entire audience into fits of laughter. Sidhu cautioned against “the fear of the failure”. He said: “Most of us, if not each one of us, fears failure and it is this fear of failure that prevents us from taking risks and once we are not able to take risks we are unlikely to go higher in life”. He said, “achievement does not lie in the absence of fear, but the conquest of fear”. While Sidhu’s philosophy was inspiring, his anecdotes, mostly from his cricket years were entertaining. He would narrate his own thrilling experiences and those of his colleagues also sending the audience into frequent fits of laughter. Celebrated VJ Cyrus Broacha was as lively and flamboyant as ever. His humourous wit was outstanding. “The evening was a sequel to the annual Teachers Achievement Awards for the year 2004”. This year’s awardees included BS Nages (business), Shankaar Ehsaan Loy (entertainment), Rahul Dravid and Lieut Col R.S. Rathore (sports and Karan Thapar (communications).
