Asha Ahuja

Ludhiana, April 21
Vivek Shauq, Aarti Puri and Ravi Nishand hero, heroine and director of Nalaik, respectively, interacted with the media in Orient Cinema where the movie had been running for a week. Comedian Jaspal Bhatti was also present.

Vivek, who is also the producer of the movie, said the idea of making a comedy film in Punjabi came into his mind. Ravi Nishand, his close friend, decided to write and direct it. Ravi said,”Vivek and I are like David Dhawan and Govinda of Hindi movies. We have worked together for a long time and thus have very good rapport. In comedy , timing is very important and we both have fine tuning , so we decided to make full length comedy. We are happy that we have had a good response and the songs sung by Baba Sehgal, Jaspinder Narula, Shanker Sawhney have been quite a hit. Excellent music has been given by Anand Raaj Anand.

Vivek said, “Nalaik is not just a word, but an expression, very commonly used in each and every home and every child must have had an experience of being called ‘Nalaik; at one stage or the other. The film revolves around the main protagonist, Nishan Singh, (ie me). But during the course of the story, a sensitive message comes out that even nalaiks have certain ambitions. The movie got good response as it has a definite story line. It revolves around an average person and his exploits with which the audience can identify itself. The story is close to life and people can easily relate to it. “

“The film has been shot in and around Chandigarh . Only some shots that feature Bobby Deol have been shot in Mumbai,” he said.

Jaspal Bhatti said,”With my film ‘Mahool Theek Hai’, the comedy in Punjabi film has become rib tickling and clean without double meaning words and phrases. We are all very familiar with each other and hence while doing the film, we had great time . The future of Punjabi movies is bright as people are actually going to theatres to watch the movies which in itself is a great achievement. “

Aarti Puri, heroine of the movie, said they had a great deal of fun filming the movie. They worked as a team and were very comfortable working with each other, she said.
