A Kharar court today issued a notice to Punjabi singer Gurtej Singh Tej for February 8 following a petition filed by lyricist Baljit Singh alleging that the singer owed him Rs 55,000.

Kidnapping case registered
Chandigarh, January 30
A Sector 15 resident, working with a private company, was last night allegedly kidnapped by three persons from his house. He was, however, dumped near Ropar by the car-borne kidnappers after asking him to behave.

Bank opens branch

HDFC Bank opened its 12th branch in the Chandigarh region in Sector 37 here yesterday. With this the bank now has 155 branches in North India. Contempt of court notice to SI

Adverse remarks against the legal fraternity in a courtroom have landed a Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Chandigarh police in trouble. The Judicial Magistrate First Class(JMIC), Mr Jaswinder Singh, served a contempt of court notice on Mr Dharamvir Singh, SI, for his remarks against Mr Om Parkash, a practising advocate.
