Rainfall: Rain/snow has occurred at most places in Uttaranchal, at many places in Himachal Pradesh and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain/thundershowers have occurred at many places in east Uttar Pradesh, at a few places in Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Punjab. Weather was dry in Rajasthan. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Himachal Pradesh: Shimla 3, Solan and Sunibhaji 2 each and Bhuntar, Paonta and Rampur Bushahr 1 each, east Uttar Pradesh: Bahraich 2 and Sultanpur 1, west Uttar Pradesh: Bareilly 1 and Uttaranchal: Mukteshwar 3, Tehri 2 and Dehra Dun and Pantnagar 1 each.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell markedly in Uttaranchal, fell appreciably in Haryana, fell in Punjab, west Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departures: These were appreciably below normal in Uttaranchal, below normal in Punjab, appreciably above normal in east Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 0°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 20: Rain/snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 20: Mainly clear sky. Mist/fog in the morning. Minimum temperature will be around 7°C.
