Anu, Harjinder go head-on for mayorship

The battle lines for the post of city Mayor have been drawn with a straight contest between Anu Chatrath of the Congress and Harjinder Kaur of the BJP-SAD combine. On the last day of filing of nomination papers today, Pushpa Sharma (Congress) and Rajesh Gupta (BJP) filed their nominations for the post of Senior Deputy Mayor.

NABARD credit society investors stand to lose lakhs
No audit in 10 yrs; outsiders allowed to invest

Lakhs of rupees of depositors of the Credit and Thrift Society of the employees of NABARD are feared lost after the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) allowed the society to function for 10 years without submitting its audited accounts.

Chandigarh, December 28
Clothes and electrical gadgets worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in fire by short-circuit in two shops of Sector 20 C. Six fire tenders took two hours to douse the fire. The fire operation became difficult as when the fire tenders sprayed water, there was a spark in the overhead wires.

BJP seeks apology from Cong on remark against Atal

City to host ITF championship

The city has once again been chosen the venue for the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Tennis Championship which will be held from February 7 to 12, 2005, at Tennis Stadium, Sector 10. To be organsied by the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA), this Grade III meet will have the participation of top ranking players from 25 countries, Mr Rajan Kashyap, Chairman, CLTA, said.

Carrom tournament begins today
