‘Khalsa’ reaches out to students

Ludhiana, December 26
The movie ‘Khalsa’, written, directed and produced by Mangal Dhillon was screened for students and staff of Guru Nanak Public School at the school auditorium here today. Mr R.S. Gill, Principal of the school, welcomed Mr Dhillon and applauded his efforts in producing such a well informing movie. The movie was also watched by Mr Jasbir Singh, president, Guru Nanak Public School management committee, Professor Saini and Professor Sharma, Registrar of Punjab Agricultural University.

Annual function: The annual function of Ritambra Public School was held on Saturday on the school premises. Mr Surinder Dawar, Parliamentary Secretary, Power Housing and Urban Development, was the chief guest. Mr Swapan Jain, research scholar (DNA studies), Georgina Institute of Technology, USA, presided over the function. A colourful cultural programme was presented by the students.

The programme started with Saraswati Vandana, followed by items stressing world peace and harmony. “Live and Let live” depicted the concept how animals and human beings can live together. “Conflict and Reconciliation” bridged the gap between the young and old. The most impressive presentatoin was based on the story ‘Selfish Giant’ showing how the world becomes listless without the presence of children. Western, Haryanvi and Punjabi dances were applauded by everyone.

Mr Surinder Dawar gave prizes to students. Aashita who was placed in the merit list in matriculation was specially honoured. Mr Panna Lal, an old employee of the school, was honoured with Ritabra Award 2004 for his dedicated services.

The chief guest applauded the accomplishments of the school. Founder president S.C. Jain, spoke on the occasion.

Swami Shradhanand remembered

Ludhiana, December 26
The martyrdom day of Swami Shradhanand was observed at Arya Senior Secondary School here today. A function was held under the aegis of Mr Sudarshan Sharma, president, Arya Prithinidhi Sabha. Rajesh Sharma, district president of the Arya Sabha, spoke about the Swami.

The programme started with a yajna by Pandit Dharam Dev and Yog Raj Shastri. Pandit Dharam Dev said Swami Shradhanand had started Gurukul Kangri in Hardwar and the youth should draw inspiration from his life. Swami Madhavanand Saraswati’s discourse was full of wisdom. Students presented devotional songs. Students of Arya School, Raikot, sang bhajan.
