KILLED: Madur Kashini Bishaka, a mahant of Madur Bihari Satsang Bhavan, was killed in a road accident near a petrol station here on Monday. An unidentified vehicle hit him and he died on the spot. A case has been registered.STOLEN: Articles worth Rs 1 lakh have been stolen from Harindera general store. Mr Harinder Kumar, owner of the store, said four mobile phones, prepaid cards and other articles were taken away by the burglars.

INJURED: More than 12 bus passengers, including driver of the bus, sustained injuries when a mini-bus overturned near Dosanjh Kalan village here on Monday night. The injured included Maghar Singh (driver), Narain Das, Harjinder, Jarnail Singh, Iqbal Kaur, Gyan Ram and Promila Devi. A case has been registered.NO HOLIDAY: Some of private educational institutions and banks remained open on the occasion of Id-ul-Fitr here on Monday. Mr Sayeed Nazir Ahmed Nazir, president, the Anjuman Islamia Committee, Punjab, has urged the government to ensure a public holiday on Id-ul-Fitr so that all Muslims can participate in Id prayers. He also demanded stern action against the violators.
