Miss Kirandeep Jakhar of Ferozepore was crowned Miss World Punjaban while the first runner-up was Miss Ravneet Kaur of Uttaranchal and second runner-up was Miss Manpreet Virk of Patiala.

Hope for elderly suffering from blindness
Ludhiana, November 7
Doctors at a local hospital today claimed to have performed the first photodynamic therapy (PDT) on an 80-year old patient. The operation was performed by Dr Ravinder Kaur Malhi on an 80-year-old woman, who had suffered great loss of vision.

Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana S.N. Tiwari visited the civil hospital here yesterday. Dr Tiwari praised the work of DoT provider Mrs Harinder Kaur who is visually handicapped. Mr Tiwari awarded her a memento for her dedicated work.
