Health officials collect 6 samples
Food adulteration

In the wake of ongoing festival season, the drive by district health officials to check adulteration of food stuff continued. A team led by District Health Officer Dr V.K. Kakkar, took six samples from different eating joints and other commercial establishments.

Land dispute: father gives clean chit to son

Dawar proposes open darbars

In a bid to redress the problems of people of the Ludhiana East Assembly segment on the spot, Mr Surinder Dawar Parliamentary Secretary, holding the charge of Energy, Housing and Urban Development, proposes to hold darbars which would be attended by senior officers from government departments.

Cable charges up following service tax

Both Siti Cable and Win Cable have asked their subscribers to pay, along with their subscription, 10.2 per cent as service tax to their operator. If you were paying Rs 200 per month for the cable connection, you will now have to pay Rs 20 more.

Carrying of firearms banned
Ludhiana, November 2
The District Magistrate has banned the carrying of firearms in the district. As per an order issued recently, the DM maintained that it had come to his notice that some people were carrying firearms in public and were threatening the peace prevailing in the district.

Might sound unbelievable, but when it comes to efficiency, there are times when government employees could give private players a run for their money. At least this is what the Income Tax Department here proved on the last few days of filing of income tax returns.

BJP charges against Punjab Govt

Seminar on spoken English

The Legends English Village, an institute for spoken English in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, UK, conducted a seminar at Sanatan Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School here today. Students were given tips in spoken English. Students from classes VIII to XII attended the seminar.

It was a thrilling day for students of Guru Nanak Girls’ College as Punjabi singer and actor was amid them this afternoon. The students had arranged a cultural extravaganza to honour Sarabjit Cheema and his team for the film “Pind Di Kudi.”

Students of the local Bharatiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Udham Singh Nagar, clinched 31 medals, including 18 gold in athletics, besides romping home champions in judo in the 17th North Zone Sports Meet organised by Vidya Bharti at Karan Stadium, Karnal, recently.
