Girl’s left kidney operated on by mistake
Civil Hospital surgeon ‘destroys’ records to evade action

Parents and relatives of a teenage girl of a poor backward class family of nearby Assi Kalan village have exhausted their resources to get her right kidney treated but surgeon at the Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, not only operated her left kidney by mistake, but also allegedly destroyed the reports and records at the hospital obviously to evade any action.

The police here will take action after a report of the Doctor’s Panel constituted to probe the allegation of the parents of a new born child died after few hours of the birth on Wednesday at a private Nursing Home.

Migrant found murdered in room

A middle-aged migrant from Madhya Pradesh was found brutally murdered in his rented house at Basant Nagar near Shivpuri today morning by his neighbours. The man seemed to have been killed two days ago as his body was found in a badly decomposed condition.

City centre likely to come up soon
Ludhiana, October 10
The much talked about city centre of Ludhiana may at last see the light of the day with the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) and Ludhiana Municipal Corporation agreeing, in principle, to complete the project jointly.

Two held, Rs 15 lakh hawala money seized
Khanna, October 10
The police here has arrested two persons and recovered Rs 15.50 lakh from them. The accused identified as Harjit Singh son of Dilbar Singh resident of Basti Sheikh and Jagdeep Chand son of Jai Chand of Jalandhar were arrested from Railway road here while they were going to Railway Station to board a train for Jalandhar.

Newly married woman commits suicide
Machhiwara, October 10
In the Indira Colony here a newly married woman committed suicide allegedly due to harassment by her in-laws. Paramjit Kaur, deceased belonged to Salempur village of police station Koomkalan and was married to Ramdass of Indira Colony on March 7, 2004.

Army, police find metal scrap too hot to handle
Ludhiana, October 10
With the police and the Army authorities trying to pass the responsibility of checking the scrap lying at the dry port at Dhandari Kalan on each other, Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Anurag Verma has written to the Home Secretary, Punjab, that neither the Army nor the police appeared to be interested in checking the scrap to ensure that it did not carry any explosive material which could cause damage to life and property.

Probe sale deed case, SAD(A) urges Governor

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has urged the Governor to order a probe into a reported case where the Divisional Commissioner, Patiala, had ordered the release of a sale deed which had earlier been kept in abeyance by the revenue authorities for want of adequate stamp duty.

Saturday night fever gripped residents of the city as a 4,000-strong crowd assembled at the Satluj Club where a fashion show was organised by the Club. A pleasant night and colourful lights provided the right ambience for models to appear. Models came dressed in off-shoulder gowns and other evening and casual dresses. They displayed soft innerwear too. In between the rounds, lively colourful dances were presented by a troupe. The audience cheered the group.
