Students interact with senior citizens

Ludhiana, October 3
Students of the Rotract Club of BNSM College of Technical Education and Government College for Women celebrated Senior Citizen Day at Vridh Ashram, Model Town,here. For three hours they chatted with the senior citizens and listened to their experiences. The youth tried to understand the various problems faced by the senior citizens. The senior citizens cut a cake and sang bhajans with the youth.

Later in the evening , the students of BNSM College of Technical Education , Alamgir, also participated in a Tarakshilta function organised by the Dr BR Ambedkar Youth Club of Village Sangowal . The students presented a play on illiteracy and religious hypocrisy . Ms Simranjit Kaur, and Ms Rupinderjit Kaur of BCA II year spoke on the need of literacy among women and condemned female foetcide.

Institute holds annual function

Ludhiana, October 3
IICE Computer Education, in association with New Revolution, education division, Ludhiana, celebrated its fourth annual function here yesterday. Students from 13 centres participated. Mr Tarlochan Singh, Chief Engineer, PUDA, was the chief guest.

The results are: Solo dance: Rubina first, Anu, IICE, Ludhiana, second and Aman, IICE, Sahnewal, third.

Quiz: The Ludhiana IICE team stood first and team members were Maninder Kaur, Manpreet Kaur and Monika.

Singing competition: Makhan Singh, IICE, Machhiwara, first, Jaspreet, IICE, Sahnewal, second and Jaspal, IICE, Ludhiana, third.

Choreography competition: The Ludhiana team got first and second positions and the Malerkotla IICE team got third position.

Skit competition: The Ludhiana team was first, the Malerkotla team second and the Patiala team third.

Dance competition: The Patiala team first, the Ludhiana team second and the Malerkotla team third.

Three judges were Mr Ajay Sharma, Prof Harcharan Singh and Mr Ajay Kapoor.

Vedic bhajan competition held

A Vedic bhajan competition was organised by the Model Town Arya Samaj in collaboration with BCM Model Arya School and RS Arya Model Senior Secondary School , Shastri Nagar, on Sunday.

The function started with a havan in which students of several schools participated. Dr Suman Sarda, in charge of women's wing of Arya Samaj was the chief guest. Arya Kanya Gurkul, Shastri Nagar, won the first prize in rendering group Vedic song. The second and third positions went to BCM Arya Senior Secondary School, RS Model Senior Secondary School, respectively.

In solo bhajan, Ankush from RS Model School stood first. Ankita Tripathi of BCM School, Shastri Nagar, and Stuti of BCM School, Chandigarh Road, were bracketed second, while Jasmeet of BCM School Dugri Road was given a consolation prize. Mr Satyanand Munjal, president of the Arya Samaj gave away a cash prize of Rs 500 to the losers of group team and Rs 200 to the loser of solo team.
