Govt misusing Jammu’s funds, alleges morcha Jammu, September 30 The spokesman of the State Morcha Mr Omkar Seth, said “Since the level of misuse of internal revenue and the Central funds had gone high, meagre funds were left for the development works.” Mr Seth said today that “On the one hand, the state government spent several lakhs on ‘luxurious’ living of ministers, and on the other hand daily wage earners and those on contract services had not been given the wages for over a year now.” The morcha leader said the government earned 75 per cent of its internal revenue from the Jammu region and spent only 6 per cent on it whereas the bulk of the revenue was used in the Kashmir valley. He said employees’ demand for the release of two installments of the DA and merger of 50 per cent of the DA in their basic pay had not been conceded so far. He said if the Union Finance Ministry wanted to ensure proper utilisation of funds allotted to Jammu and Kashmir, it should set up a team of experts who could review the system of revenue collection and the expenditure. He said the development works shown to have been completed on paper should be verified. |
