From the Principal’s Desk
Faith in the dictum of doing

Bridging the gap between imagination and reality, words and deeds, promises and performance — that is exactly what Shivalik Public School believes in. Since the time of its inception, the school has proved its faith in the dictum of doing, rather than thinking, We endeavour to nurture the child from a very impressionable age in an open and multi-dimensional environment. We emphasise on the balanced and integrated adults who are physically, mentally and spiritually mature enough to handle and face the vicissitudes of life with optimism, courage and fortitude.

With its motto “Victory with Determination”, the school has been providing a unique education to children. In this cut throat competition no one can escape the maddening rat race to be on the top. The knowledge explosion demands continuous upgradation of facilities, skills and training for which the school is to enable the students to acclimatise the rapidly changing technological environment, to train the student for shouldering the responsibilities of a good and alert citizen. The school believes in making learning enjoyable, exciting and encouraging. We try to instill a sense of belonging, commitment, dedication and loyalty in the student. Excellence and striving for the best, encouraging the student to reach for the stars with their feet firm on the ground is our aim.

I believe that success is never a difficult thing to attain provided one has a definite goal in mind. Faith can move mountains and hard work can ensure success. There is nothing in the world which cannot be achieved by strong will.

Children highlight environment issue
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, September 29
Embarking on an “environmental” mission, as many as 40 students from Eicher School, Parwanoo, landed in the Sector 17 Plaza this afternoon. Dressed as every possible manifestation of nature - from flowers and trees to polythene and pollutants, the students sought to spread the message of environmental awareness.

Their principal Ms Shalini Kashyap stood in the backdrop watching the street play unfold in front of an eager audience at the Plaza. Fashioned as a street play, “Zindagi Khuli Hawa Ki Talaash Mein” was impressive with content that centred on pollution and its lethal consequences for mankind and nature alike. Using two narrators, teacher Ms Kamini Sharma brought the theme home, underlining the urgency of waking up to environmental concerns. The play had all ingredients of a “nukkad natak”, including music and props.

As the stifled life (enacted by Abhishek) transformed into an enriched life, the message of the play became clearer. Teachers and children wrapped up the presentation by paying an ode to nature and seeking man to respect it with all his heart. Speaking about the project after the play, Ms Kashyap said the school had decided to take up global issues and raise awareness about them by employing tools of theatre and other performing arts.

“We take up women’s empowerment, girl child, environment and other issues. Besides holding inter-school contests in debating, quiz and other streams, we also encourage out our students to prepare street plays which can then be staged in the heart of cities. We keep staging them in Parwanoo. We may take this play to other adjoining towns like Mohali,” she said.

Significantly, children of Eicher School have been visiting factory owners in Parwanoo to hand over memoranda requesting them against polluting rivers waters in Himachal Pradesh. Recently the school Administrations also took cudgels against owners of shamlat land who denuded the forests to raise concrete structures all around the school area.
