Summer camp concludes

Ludhiana, June 26
A month-long camp organised at Vivek Montessori School concluded here today. Almost 100 students of age group 5 to 15 years from various schools attended the camp.

The courses offered were spoken English, personality development, dance, art, craft, karate and computers.

Today various competitions were held and prizes given to the winners. The judges were Ms Viedi, Ms Rupinder and Ms Upasana.

Students displayed their creations like pot paintings, gift wrapping in different styles, organic fabric paintings and sketches. A small cultural show was also organised. The function concluded with a party in which children sang and danced.

5000 appear for B.Ed entrance exam

Ludhiana, June 26
Over 5000 students appeared for B.Ed entrance examination conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University here in the city today. Dr Kuldip Singh of GGN College, city coordinator, said that the examination was conducted smoothly in 17 centres.

Around 80 per cent of students that appeared in the entrance examination were girls. The result of the examination was expected around July 9.

Long wait for diploma

Ludhiana, June 26
Manoj Kumar Preet, resident of Jamalpur, here, has failed to get diploma from IGNOU even after passing the examination long time back.
In the first diploma course that IGNOU started in tourism in 1994, Manoj (Roll No 940860933) appeared for the test at Government Senior School, Solan (IGNOU study centre No 1103). He passed the examination, but never received the diploma. He was told by IGNOU that he had not submitted some documents.

He met the Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU and told him that he had not been awarded a diploma in spite of clearing the examination. He had sent all relevant documents to the Vice-Chancellor on January 2 but till now, he has not received the diploma. OC
