LPG distributors call off strike
Chandigarh, June 12
Distributors of LPG called off their four-day strike after the Chandigarh Administration promised them specified areas for godowns. Supplies resumed in trickle much to the relief of city residents. The distributors announced their decision around noon after emerging from a successful meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Arun Kumar.

BJP chief threatens to launch stir against demolitions

The President of the local unit of the BJP, Mr Yash Pal Mahajan, while lashing out at the Congress said if the demolition drives in the city did not stop the party would be forced to launch a mass movement.

8-yr-old boy found dead
Panchkula, June 12
Mystery shrouds the death of an eight-year-old boy, whose body was found near the Patiala Mandir in the Mansa Devi shrine complex this afternoon. The young boy, wearing grey trousers and a pink shirt, and a belt of DAV School, Sector 7, was found lying in the bushes, a few yards off the road leading to the Patiala temple.

Cash, jewellery stolen
Mohali, June 12
Cash and jewellery worth about Rs 70,000 were stolen from a house in Phase X last night. Burglars struck at the house, located in the Housefed complex, when its owners were out of station. The lock on the main door was broken to enter the building.

Man picked up by ‘cops’
Mohali, June 12
A resident of Housefed quarters here was allegedly picked up by the police early this morning. It is alleged that Ajit Singh (33) was picked up around 4.40 am by men wearing uniforms. They had come in a van and a Gypsy.

PGI employees caught stealing
Chandigarh, June 12
Three PGI employees were caught while stealing sanitaryware from the sanitary store of the Advanced Pediatric Centre in the hospital. They include Sanjeev Sharma, sanitary inspector, PGI, Sanjeev Kalra, work inspector and Naveen Sharma, telephone operator, PGI.

Drug peddler arrested

The local police today arrested a Bihari youth and recovered 195 grams of charas worh Rs 20,000 from his possession.

A yoga camp is under way at the Community Centre, Sector 47-B, here. It is being conducted by Mr Rajinder Singh, regular yoga instructor at the centre, along with Nimmi Vashisht and Rupinder Singh, under the guidance of yoga specialist Jyoti Sadhna.
