Poorna takes on Navjot in tennis final

Poorna of Chandigarh will take on Navjot Saini of Punjab in the final of the girls under-14 section of the AITA Talent Series Tennis tournament being played here at the CLTA Tennis stadium, Sector 10. Poorna today beat Shradha Singh of Chandigarh while Navjot got the better of Noor Paul also of Chandigarh in the other semi-final.

Subroto Cup to be held in Sept

Chandigarh, May 27
The Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society will organised the annual Subroto Cup Football tournament sometime between September 1 and 30. According to Mr P.S. Chhabra, secretary general, School Games Federation of India, the prestigious tournament is going to be held in the sub-junior (under-14), junior (under-17) levels. Named after Air Marshal Subroto the tournament will held at Dr Ambedkar stadium, Delhi Gate, New Delhi.

Mr Chhabra said, “they have received an invitation from the Secretary General of the society, Wing Cdr Rahul Pathak, to approve the dates for the tournament.” He said SGFI had written to all affiliated units to prepare their teams for the tournament.

He also announced that the Indian school volleyball team (girls) would take part in the Second Asian School Volleyball (girls) championship to be held at Macau from July 22 to 31.
