SAD will win, claims Gill
Doraha, May 6
“BJP-SAD activists of Payal, Malout and Doraha reached out to the rural folk of 100 villages of this area four times during the campaign, while other parties could not meet these villagers even once during the same period. In every visit, we have added to our strength by gaining support for the joint alliance,” said Mr Jagjiwan Pal Singh Gill, an Akali activist and in charge of the Payal constituency.

Seeking votes in Tohra’s name
Amloh, May 6
Former minister Harmail Singh Tohra son-in-law of late SGPC chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra, presented a siropa to a former vice-president of the Amloh block of the Congress, who left the party along with his supporters and joined the SAD today in a function at Bhadal Thua village, near here. District with senior vice-president of the SAD Brij Lal Sharma presented Rs 21,000 for the election fund to the former minister.
Women not to vote for candidates ‘supplying’ drugs

Women in Punjab will not vote in favour of those candidates who distribute drugs during elections. These views were expressed at an opinion survey of women voters on “Drug distribution during elections”.

Deputy Commissioner Anurag Verma today said the Election Commission had ordered that all voters who had been issued voter identity cards would have to produce these to exercise their franchise at polling stations.

mitayee.” This was the opening line of 36 members of the Youth Aman
Karwan, who on the last leg of their whirlwind tour were in the city today. Youth in the age group of 15 to 20 years comprised the group. Their aim is to visit 40 cities in the country before election to make people aware of the urgency the country is facing.

2 mishap victims’
condition critical
Ludhiana, May 6
The condition of two students of Guru Harkrishan Public School, Dugri Road, who met with an accident at the unmanned railway crossing near Himmat Nagar yesterday was still critical today even as other children have started showing signs of improvement.
Nisha Rani, a student of class VI, is lying unconscious in the neurosurgery ward of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. She had received injuries on the head, ears and under the eyes.
