Prison fracas: Chief wardens suspended
Sonepat, April 28
The Director General of Police (Prison), Haryana, Mr A S Bhatotia, has ordered the suspension of nine employees, including three chief wardens of Sonepat district jail, on the charge of dereliction of duty, resulting in a clash among the prisoners and the shooting down of a hardcore undertrial, Jasbir, alias Jassa, purportedly a member of Krishan Mehndipuria gang, on April 26 last.

Father gets bail, son released instead
Ghaziabad, April 28
The Allahabad High Court had allowed the bail plea of father, Krishen Chander, a few days ago, who, along with his son, Dharminder, was serving a jail term for dowry death. But while issuing the release order, a local court by mistake issued the parwana in the name of Dharminder instead of his father.

20 cholera patients report daily in Delhi: DMA
New Delhi:
The Delhi Medical Association president, Dr I. P. Dhalla, said there were about 350 cases of cholera. He said that the number of cases was more than double as the doctors practicing in the private clinics did not share information about such diseases.

Six of family booked for dowry death as body cremated in a hurry

The police have booked at least six members of a family of Penglettu village of the district after the death of a married woman recently at the house of her in-laws. The body of the woman was reportedly cremated by her in-laws without informing her parents.

A team of Railway officials, headed by Mr R. K. Puri, Assistant Commercial Officer Railways, checked a number of incoming and outgoing trains on the Sonepat and Sandal Kalan Railway stations for the second time in a week yesterday and hauled up as many as 150 passengers travelling without tickets on them.

Four truck hijackers arrested
Ghaziabad, April 28
Four criminals who used to hijack or loot trucks after posing as passengers at night have been arrested by Vijay Nagar police after an encounter on Monday. The gang had looted a truck laden with iron rods in Bisarkh on March 24. They had unloaded sarya (iron rods) from the truck after making the driver unconscious and had fled after dumping the empty truck at Noida.

Delhi plays host to World Dance Day today

Sangeet Natak Akademi, the national academy of performing arts of music, dance and drama, is celebrating World Dance Day on April 29 along with leading dance institutions of Delhi. The celebration will be held on the lawns of the Akademi premises at Rabindra Bhavan, Copernicus Marg, from 5 pm to 10 pm and will include performances and demonstrations of folk, classical, martial and contemporary dances as also screening of video films on dance from Akademi archives, besides other attractions.

Clean-up drive: MCD removes 876 hoardings
New Delhi, April 28
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has removed 876 hoardings, boards, 1,2,264 banners and 4,9,537 posters during a drive launched against display of these publicity matters in different parts of the city. Display of these publicity materials is against Model Code of Conduct during the parliamentary elections. The MCD has launched a drive against the instalment of the publicity materials since March 16.
