Mayor opens mobile clinic in Seelampur

New Delhi, April 28
Delhi Mayor A. R. Verma inaugurated Asha Mobile Clinic in Seelampur. The Asha Mobile Clinic will provide medical and health education facility to 40,000 slum dwellers of Seelampur.

Ch Mateen Ahmed, MLA of Seelampur, presided at the opening ceremony of the mobile clinic. In her inaugural address, Dr Kiran Martin, Director of Asha, said: “Asha is working in 40 slums of Delhi and reaching out to more than 2,00,000 slum dwellers of Delhi.” “Asha works in cooperation with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi Government for the development of the slums.”

Infant mortality rate and maternal deaths have reduced considerably in slums where Asha works. Through Asha’s help and training there is women’s empowerment in the slums, women have learnt the importance of health and hygiene and are actively cooperating with the MCD and Delhi Government for development of their community.

Asha Mobile Clinic provides treatment to TB patients, immunisation programme for children, Antenatal check-ups for pregnant women and general health through OPD programme.

Clean-up drive: MCD removes 876 hoardings

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has removed 876 hoardings, boards, 1,2,264 banners and 4,9,537 posters during a drive launched against display of these publicity matters in different parts of the city. Display of these publicity materials is against Model Code of Conduct during the parliamentary elections. The MCD has launched a drive against the instalment of the publicity materials since March 16.

Break up of the removal of these materials is as follows: In Central Zone six hoardings, 1,375 banners, 4,583 posters were removed and 91 square metre area of walls were cleaned. In Civil Lines Zone, 32 hoardings, 72 banners, 4,569 posters were removed and 6,066 square metre area of walls were cleaned. In City Zone, 32 hoarding, 1,319 banners, 3,631 posters were removed. In Karol Bagh Zone, 50 hoardings, 486 banners, 2,133 posters were removed and 2,908 square metre area of walls were cleaned. In Najafgarh Zone, 37 hoardings, 625 banners, 5,632 posters were removed and 3,795 square metre area of walls were cleaned. In Rohini Zone, 61 hoardings, seven banners, 540 posters were removed. In South Zone, 95 hoardings, 1,833 banners, 3,175 posters were removed. In Sadar Paharganj Zone, 13 hoardings, 391 banners, 5,846 posters were removed. In Shahadra South Zone, 131 hoardings, 1550 banners, 6515 posters were removed and 830 square metres area of walls were cleaned. In Shahadra North Zone, 69 hoardings, 1,308 banners, 1,0289 posters were removed and 100-metre area of walls were cleaned. In West Zone, seven hoardings, 1935 banners, 2,633 posters were removed.

In addition to this, the advertisement department of the MCD removed 337 hoardings and 713 banners, a spokesman of the MCD said.
