Ramoowalia files papers amid show of strength

Former Union Minister and chief of the Lok Bhalai Party (LBP) Balwant Singh Ramoowalia today silenced his critics by ensuring a massive turnout at the time of filing of nominations here. The buzz doing the rounds was that he would not be able to match the show of strength by the Congress and the SAD- BJP alliance yesterday.

Husband, in-laws get 10-year RI in dowry death case
Ludhiana, April 23
Kuldip Kaur got married on April 13, 2002, and after two months, she was burnt to death by her in-laws. Her fault: her parents could not afford the articles of dowry that the greedy in-laws of their daughter had demanded. Thus another young woman was burnt at the altar of dowry.

Judge’s son dies in mishap

Sanjeev Kaushik, a son of the Additional Sessions Judge, Mr Inderjit Kaushik, was killed in an accident near Choki Maan village under the Jagraon police district early this morning.

Ludhiana, April 23 With farmers of the district having already prepared nurseries of paddy, ahead of the recommended time, the state government has come out with an appeal against the practice in newspapers only now. It has become a common practice for the state government to releases advertisements in media, spending lakhs of rupees, appealing farmers to postpone paddy cultivation. MBA aspirants a harried lot

It is a tough going for MBA aspirants of Punjab. Graduates aiming to pursue MBA courses in colleges within the state will have to take five entrance tests. The candidates will have to purchase as many copies of prospectus, fill in as many forms and send these to varied destinations. In case they qualify all tests and want to keep all choices open, they will also have to appear in five group discussions followed by five interviews.

College enters Limca Book of Records

A mutual fund exercise being managed by students of Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE), under the banner of Students’ Welfare Association of PCTE (SWAP), has got it an entry into Limca Book of Records. The name of the college will feature in the 2005 edition of the book.
