Ten teams for SAIL Trophy cricket New Delhi, March 20 SAIL senior deputy director of sports T K Bhowmik said the tournament will be played according to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rules, but as a special case, four fielders inside the 30-yard circle would be mandatory throughout the innings, excluding the wicket-keeper and the bowler. Mr Bhowmik said the winners will pocket a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while the runners-up will take home Rs 20,000. A man of the match award will be given in each match. Collage Group will take on DDCA President’s XI in the opening match on March 25. The other teams in the fray are: Youngsters Club, Mohan Meakins, SAIL, FCI, Indian Airlines, Sonnet Club, Sahara India and ONGC. |
National Seminar on Yoga and Sports begins New Delhi, March 20 The seminar is being organised by the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy in association with the Yoga Confederation of India and General Association of National Sports Federations. The inaugural function was attended by secretary, Department of Ayush, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, president of YCI Dr Gopal, Sports Authority of India executive director M. K. Mishra, Arjuna Awardee Subroto Rai and prominent yoga practitioners and over 150 delegates from all over the country. Dr B. T. Chidananda Murthy, director of CCRYN, welcomed the participants. Prof Malhotra, dwelling on the importance of yoga in everyday life, said it could be used as an important medium to promote various sports disciplines. He said willpower and concentration can be developed with the practice of yoga. |
