The visit of representatives of four Malaysian construction companies in the city on Tuesday to assess the possibility of creating infrastructure like elevated roads, developing residential and commercial complexes, ring roads is not likely to bear fruits. Thanks to bureaucratic and political hurdles nothing concrete was expected to come out of it.
Legal notice to BSNL on Sikh jokes

Prof Prithipal Singh Kapoor, a former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, and Administrator of the Chief Khalsa Diwan, has served a legal notice on the Secretary, Government of India, the Department of Communication, the Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), and the General Manager, BSNL, Ludhiana in protest against joke line “Sardarji jokes”, describing the jokes as derogatory, insulting and humiliating for the Sikh community.
Ikwinder’s family to continue fight

The family of alleged dowry-death victim, Ikwinder Kaur, has decided to knock the doors of judiciary again to seek justice after the police refused to lodge an FIR against her in-laws citing jurisdiction problems.
Repair of
jail wall begins
Ludhiana, February 18
The repair of the 100-feet breach in the wall of Central Jail here finally began today with masons laying the foundation for the wall. The work began following a promise made to the Punjab and Haryana High Court by the State Prisons Department in this connection.

PCTE boy bags top rank in BCA
Ludhiana, February 18
Aman Sethi, a BCA student of the Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE), has bagged overall first position in the 2000-03 batch of Punjab Technical University.
Aman Sethi has won a gold medal by scoring 3,635 marks out of 4200. Munish Dhawan from the same college has been declared fourth with 3610 marks and Rajiv Logani has stood on overall sixth rank with 3558 marks.
