Narco smuggler held with explosives

The Special Branch of the Delhi Police today claimed to have arrested the kingpin of a gang of transnational smugglers and recovered 4 kg of explosives from him.

Rs 10 lakh ransom demand for toddler
Meerut, February 14
A three-and-a-half-year-old boy was kidnapped late Friday evening. A ransom of Rs 10 lakh was demanded for his safe release by the kidnappers. The child had gone to buy a toffee from a nearby shop when he went missing. Senior police officials rushed to the spot after getting the news and constituted several teams to find the boy.

Noida: A private hospital in Sector-41 has reportedly refused to hand over the body of a young man to his relatives till the latter first clear the bill. The injured man was brought to the hospital after a road accident. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The Speaker of Delhi Legislative Assembly, Mr Ajay Maken, has called for an apolitical and fully-equipped police force in the Capital. “It should be a terror for criminals and a helping hand to law-abiding citizens,” Mr Maken said while participating in a debate organised by the Delhi Police on its foundation day in Hindu College.

The Delhi Transport Corporation buses will soon sport the names of destinations in Urdu and Punjabi. The two languages became the official languages of Government of NCT of Delhi late last year.

Heated argument leads to murder of youth
New Delhi, February 14
Argument between two traders of Tughlakabad Extension area led to the murder of a youth today. The deceased was identified as Surender Gupta. According to the police, Vinod Gupta and Vijay Gupta, both traders, are neighbours in Tughlakabad Extension. However, they were not on the best of terms.
