Rainfall:
Rain or snow has occurred at most places in
Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and at many places in Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Haryana and Punjab, at a few places in west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in east Rajasthan. Weather was dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cms are: Haryana: Ayannagar 3 Rewari 2 and Ambala, and Karnal 1 each, Chandigarh 2, New Delhi (Safdarjung 3 and Delhi Ridge 2,) Himachal Pradesh: Shimla 5, Bhuntar, Patsio, Rampur Bushar and Sunibhaji 3 each and Kahu, Kotkhai and Nahan 1 each, Jammu and Kahsmir: Banihal 5, Batote 4, Jammu 2 and Srinagar 1, Punjab: Gurdaspur 3 and Amritsar and Batala 1 each, east Rajasthan: Jaipur 1, west Uttar Pradesh: Hindon 3 and Uttaranchal: Tehri 3.

Temperatures: past 24-hour change: Minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Punjab and west Rajasthan, fell in east Rajasthan, and changed little elsewhere.

Departure: This was markedly above normal in

Haryana and east Rajasthan, appreciably above normal in Jammu and Kahsmir, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, above normal in Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 3.0°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of December 18: Rain or snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in east Rajasthan. Weather will be mainly dry in west Rajasthan.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of December 18: Mainly cloudy sky with rain or thundershowers in some areas. Mist in the morning . Minimum temperature will be around 13C.
