Flip-flop on test reports of petrol samples
Faridabad, November 25
Utter confusion prevails over reports of samples of petroleum products that were lifted from various petrol pumps here by the district authorities recently. The district administration last night issued a press note stating that as many as 12 samples of petrol lifted by the District Food and Supply Department had failed a few days ago in the test conducted at the fuel test laboratory of the R & D Division of Indian Oil at Noida.

Contempt notice to Uphaar on claim about assets
New Delhi, November 25
The Delhi High Court today issued a notice to the Manager and Director of the Uphaar cinema on a contempt petition filed by Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy for allegedly making a false statement on oath in an effort to sell the theatre.

Bus collides head-on with truck

Thirty persons were injured when a UP roadways bus coming from Meerut had a head-on collision with a truck coming at a fast speed near Garh Mukteshwer. Four persons are reported to be in a serious condition.

Inter-state gang busted; 10 held
New Delhi, November 25
With the arrest of 10 persons, the Delhi Police Special Cell has claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of dacoits active in Delhi, Uttaranchal and Uttar Pradesh. The sleuths also claimed to have solved more than 17 cases of dacoity, robbery and thefts and nine cases of murder and robbery in Uttranchal and Uttar Pradesh.

Three arrested for snatching money

The Government Railway Police has arrested three youths Sanjeev alias Sonu, Surjeet and Rajesh, all residents of Prabhnagar Mandi, Sonepat, while they were allegedly snatching Rs 500 from a Bihari youth at the railway station here last night.

Continuing the crackdown on the musclemen in Delhi, the Delhi Police Crime Branch today claimed to have arrested four persons providing ‘musclemen’ services in the Najafgarh area of South-West Delhi.

Call girl racket busted; two girls among 5 held
Noida, November 25
The Sector-58 police have arrested five persons, including two young girls from a house in Sector-56 which was being used as a den for flesh trade. The girls were sent to Delhi and other places, Ajay Kumar, SO police station said.

Lower interest rates on loans: NCRPB chief
New Delhi, November 25
Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister Bandaru Dattatreya has stressed the need for lowering the interest rates on loans funded by the National Capital Region Planning Board to enable the participating states to implement various projects, particularly related to the transport sector, which were not being considered seriously by the organisation concerned.

Sonepat health centres to get facelift with EC aid
Sonepat, November 25
As financial assistance under the European Commission plan has started coming to the local health authorities, the health institutions functioning in the district will now be getting a much needed facelift.

Over 12,000 kids given polio drops
Rohtak, November 25
The anganwari workers in the district supplied BCG injections for 12,352 children till October during the current financial year. As many as 12,377 children were administered polio drops and DPT through 653 anganwari centres in the district.

The Indian judo team lifted one silver and two bronze medals in the Asian Junior Judo Championship held at Macau from November 20 to 24. Anita Chanu annexed the silver medal in the 52kg while Aruna (48kg) and Nirupama Devi (57kg) bagged the bronze medals.
